The steel city of Jamshedpur and the areas surrounding it continued to reel under severe heat with the mercury soaring above 40 degrees Celsius today.
The severe heat affected normal life.
The maximum temperature recorded on Monday was 43 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, and the minimum temperature registered at 23.7 degrees Celsius, Met office sources here said.
The streets of the city wore a deserted look particularly during daytime since people preferred to remain indoors.
Most of the schools in the city had already rescheduled their school timings and dismissed classes by 11.30 am due to the heat.
