Mercury touches 42.8 deg C in Allahabad

While parts of Uttar Pradesh witnessed rain and thundershowers, the mercury touched 42.8 degrees Celsius in Allahabad today, the highest in the state.
According to the MeT department, temperatures rose in Gorakhpur and Faizabad division as well but remained unchanged in the other divisions.
The mercury level remained below normal in Jhansi, Agra and Meerut divisions, whereas the highest temperature was recorded in Allahabad (42.8 degrees Celsius).
