Called AceTrac, the programme will measure candidates on employability skills at regular intervals during their graduation tenure. It will also provide developmental inputs and detailed feedback to students by benchmarking them against industry hiring standards.
The diagnostic assessment will be in the first or the second year of graduate education and generate personalised feedback on strengths and areas of improvement.
In 6-12 months after the exercise, the students will undergo a review assessment and the final employability test is undertaken a few months before the graduation or the placement season.
Sundararajan said MeritTrac had taken it to a few institutions on a pilot basis and got good response before launching this product.
"We are launching it only today and we have an event tomorrow where more than 150 institutions are likely to participate. We see that most of these institutions will be willing to subscribe to the programme in the next few months," he said.
The problem of employability has been lingering issue in the Indian job market and HR experts and various assessment companies have highlighted the gap in educational methods to fix it.
MeritTrac has been a pioneer of conducting assessments for corporates, educational institutions and governmental organisations. Over the last 17 years, MeritTrac claims to have administered more than 20 million pre-recruitment assessments for over 300 of India's largest hiring bodies.
