The 2009 batch IAS officer had on Tuesday inspected two villages in Mewat-Salaheri and Salamba. He detained four men for defecating in the open and collected fine from each of them.
The men were then made to squat in front of a police jeep and photographed after which Sharma uploaded the picture on Facebook.
"Some of the residents of the two villages are chamchas (stooges) of influential people and thus, did not pay heed to the sarpanch or the district administration," his post read, adding that all four men photographed had toilets in their houses.
As several internet users questioned Sharma's language, the bureaucrat hit back with another post.
"Eight out of 10 words I use in a sentence are abuses and I love my language. You should go and complain to the Union Public Service Commission which selected me not just once, but thrice," he wrote.
The deputy commissioner had launched a drive to end open defecation in Mewat district.
"We want to make Mewat open defecation free and we will celebrate first Swachh Eid in the history of Mewat on June 26," he had said earlier.
"A senior official should not behave and use such language. He should rather get toilets constructed than uploading pictures of those defecating in the open and defaming them," a villager said.
When asked about his controversial Facebook posts, Sharma told PTI over phone, "There is no controversy". He refused to elaborate.
