Filmmaker Michael Bay has hinted at plan to hand over "Transformers" helming duty to another director.
Bay, 49, said he wants to explore new genres of filmmaking, reported Ace Showbiz.
"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles. They are so hard to make. They're hard. 4,000 people worked on (Age of Extinction), and it's every day for two years, seven days a week...," he said.
The director additionally admitted that he might have run out of idea for the next entry,
"How long can you do 'Transformers', you know what I'm saying? And after you see this movie, you think, 'Well what the hell am I going to do next?'," he added.
'Transformers: Age of Extinction' which has Mark Wahlberg as the new male lead has become the first film this year to hit USD 1 billion mark despite little critical praise.
The fourth film will be followed by "Transformers 5" planned for 2016.
In the meantime, Bay has produced another blockbuster "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". He is also involved in the productions of horror pic "Ouija" and sci-fi flick "Project Almanac".
