"Scooters have become increasingly popular in India and emerged as a preferred choice of commuting because of ease of riding and parking in congested areas," said Pradeep G Thampy, Michelin Asia, Africa and Middle East Commercial Director (Two Wheels).
The convenience of push start, fuel efficiency and comfort of automatic transmission are enablers to this new trend, which has also seen more and more women adopt scooters as their choice of mobility, Thampy said adding that MICHELIN City Pro would offer daily commuters with a comfortable in-city ride experience.
Michelin offers a range of products in India, including tyres for passenger cars, trucks and buses, two-wheelers and OTR (Off the Road) vehicles.
The company's plant in Chennai manufactures a range of radial truck/bus tyres.
