India is the third largest smartphone market with 44 million smartphones sold last year in the country, T S Sridhar, Director-South Nokia India, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobiles Oy, told reporters here.
Customers are migrating from feature phones to smartphones and Rs 6,000-Rs 12,000 is the fastest growing category, he said, adding that by 2017 this will be the fastest growing segment.
The rate of replacement in markets with high teledensity like Kerala and Tamil Nadu is also high, he said.
The new Nokia that runs Android apps is armed with the Fastlane experience which is now more customisable and social. Users can select what appears on their Fastlane feed, read notifications from their social networks and update their status from with Fastlane.
