Microsoft will launch Windows 10, an upgraded windows operating system on July 29 globally, allowing users to switch seamlessly between personal computers, tablets, smartphones and other gadgets, the technology giant said today.
Available for the first time as a free upgrade for a limited time, Windows 10 is intended to give apps a similar feel on all devices and comes with a new Web browser integrated with Cortana, the US-based company's voice- activated answer to Apple's Siri.
Windows 10 delivers a fast and familiar experience that is more secure and automatically up-to-date. Featuring new innovations like Cortana, Microsoft Edge and Xbox integration, Windows 10 is the best Windows ever.
"Windows 10 was built to empower people to do great things. We are thrilled to celebrate the launch of Windows 10 with our fans," Corporate Vice President of Windows and Devices Marketing at Microsoft Yusuf Mehdi said.
The free upgrade will be available for anyone whose device has windows 8/8.1 or 7, the previous versions of windows.
"We'll mark the launch of Windows 10 by celebrating the people and organizations that upgrade the world every day - and by helping them do more in their communities," he said.
New upgraded operating system will allow users to switch seamlessly between personal computers, tablets, smartphones and other gadgets.
Shares of the Redmond, Washington-based company added 24 cents to USD 44.85 in today's premarket trading.
