The water tariff had been raised two years back following supply of electricity at commercial rates instead of industrial rates.
Subsequently, MIDC had submitted a petition to the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission to reduce these rates.
Accordingly an order dated August 14, 2014 passed by the MERC and subsequent support from MSEDCL a concessional rate has been agreed upon that will lead to cutting water tariff rate effectively by 25-30%, the minister said.
