Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), a government of Maharashtra undertaking, has decided to supply water in industrial areas at a lower tariff by 25-30 per cent from December 1, 2014.
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by state industries minister Prakash Mehta held at MIDC Head office in Andheri here today.
The water tariff had been raised two years back following supply of electricity at commercial rates instead of industrial rates.
Subsequently, MIDC had submitted a petition to the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission to reduce these rates.
Accordingly an order dated August 14, 2014 passed by the MERC and subsequent support from MSEDCL a concessional rate has been agreed upon that will lead to cutting water tariff rate effectively by 25-30%, the minister said.
The review meeting also decided to constitute panels with a new frame-work for allotment of big, large and ultra-large plots of land at its Head office. As per the decision taken today, the new panels and committees will allot plots in time-frame of 10 working days at the regional level and the Head office will have a time frame of 15 days.
