ABC has commissioned a pilot for a television comedy based on director John Hughes's 1989 film about a derelict uncle (John Candy) taking care of his niece and nephew.
Epps has signed up to play an updated version of Buck Russell in the ABC pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
'Third Watch' actress Nia Long will play Buck's sister-in-law, who runs her own non-profit mentoring group for at-risk girls.
MADtv's Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley are writing and executive producing the Uncle Buck pilot.
'Uncle Buck' was previously adapted into a short-lived sitcom starring Kevin Meaney in 1990.
