The 27-year-old actor has spoken about his experience on the young adult adaptation and his latest film 'Whiplash', reported Digital Spy.
"I was feeling dead inside as I didn't have an interesting part in 'Divergent', and I'd taken the film for business reasons. It was the first movie I'd done that was going to have an international audience.
"I called my agent and said, 'This sucks'. He told me about 'Whiplash'," Teller said.
'Whiplash' follows a young jazz drummer (Teller) fighting to succeed in an exclusive conservatory.
The tutelage of his ruthless instructor (JK Simmons) might either make or break him.
