The former couple confirmed the collaboration when speaking on a panel at BookCon at the Javits Center in New York over the weekend, reported Ace Showbiz.
"It's very early in the creative process," Novak said of the new book.
Kaling added enthusiastically, "It's going to be awesome. We just started working on it. I love working with him ... And the ideas that we've had so far have been super exciting."
Kaling and Novak played on-and-off couple on NBC's comedy "The Office". She also publicly said that they dated in real life. She now calls the actor her best friend.
Her second tome will be published in September by Penguin Random House in a deal worth at least USD 7 million.
Novak is also an author. He released a collection of short stories and a children's book last year.
