The culprits allegedly tried to run over the general manager with a sand tipper truck, in retaliation to which he fired several shots at that vehicle's tyres, they said.
The general manager was asked by the department to look into a complaint regarding illegal mining in the area.
"As he was inspecting the area he spotted a sand tipper and tried to stop it. However, the men in the tipper attacked the general manager on which he fired a few shots from his licenced revolver," an official said.
DSP, Ghanaur, Harjinder Singh Gill said that they had received a complaint against three persons and a case had been registered under various sections of the law.
