Minister asks police to curb incidence of crime in Bijapur

Water Resources Minister M B Patil, who is the district in charge minister, today sternly asked the police department to prevent crimes in the district which were "too high."
At a special meeting here, he reviewed the crime situation and asked officials to control the incidents with strict measures, noting that people were worried about chain snatching and house theft cases in all parts of the district.
The Minister asked the police to step up the night beat and check illegal activities. He also asked the SP to prevent illegal sand mining which has created havoc in state.
He also took Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited officials to task and asked them to provide connections to borewells soon. He said power supply should be improved with latest technology and suggested that a proposal be prepared to submit to the power ministry.
For development of tourism, the minister asked officials to speed up efforts with ASI for including Bijapur in the World Heritage List. He also advised officials to take steps to improve roads connecting historical monuments in the city.
