Sibal, acknowledged for shaping the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework during his stint in the HRD Ministry, also harped on the benefits of establishing community colleges to generate skilled workforce for the industry.
Emphasising on active participation of the private sector in the drive to impart skills, he suggested a "tripartite partnership between the HRD, IT Ministry and the private sector to develop courses in specific areas where they require skills".
Sibal was speaking at a function here which saw AICTE entering into an agreement to use the training facilities and faculty of BSNL for the benefit of students in AICTE approved institutions under its Employability Enhancement Training Program (EETP).
HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju said the initiative will see 25,000 students being trained for IT and telecom sector.
"The initiative is a big leap for the telecom sector and we want every sector should come forward and forge ties with every ministry," he said.
