A three-year-old boy was allegedly strangulated to death after being kidnapped by a man for ransom in west Delhi's Nangloi area, following which the accused was arrested, police said today.
Mayank, who went missing on Monday morning while playing outside his house, was reportedly last seen with Mansingh (21), they said.
The accused was detained and during interrogation he confessed that he had kidnapped the boy and strangulated him to death as he was crying, a police officer said.
The body was recovered from a rainwater filled ditch near Surajmal Vihar Metro station yesterday, the officer said, adding, the accused was addicted to drugs and had kidnapped the boy for ransom as he has a debt of around Rs 50,000 on him.
The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem, police said, adding the victim's kin along with locals staged a protest outside Nangloi Police Station over the incident.
