The incident took place last night when the victim Nitin Yadav was playing outside his house along the roadside and was hit by a sand-laden truck leaving him dead on spot, a police spokesperson said.
The driver of the truck that was going towards Ghatampur was nabbed by the people present there and beaten by them before he was handed over to the police, the official said.
Outraged over the incident, the local residents staged a protest and blocked traffic for a brief period, police said.
