Minor daughter of businessman abducted from Meerut city

A 13-year-old daughter of a city-based businessman has been kidnapped following which police have launched a search to rescue her.
The motive behind the abduction is still unclear, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday when the girl, the daughter of a businessman residing in Somdutt Vihar here, did not return home after she had gone to her school along with her 6-year-old brother, they said.
The girl's family informed the police in the evening after she didn't come home from school and was not found anywhere else too, they said.
"We have registered a case of abduction against unknown person today and efforts are underway find the missing girl. Whether the motive behind the kidnapping is ransom or something else, nothing can be said regarding that," Station In-charge Veer Kumar said.

Meanwhile, the school's director said the girl was not seen in the CCTV footage of the school premises either.
Her younger brother has also told police that she left his hand before entering the school gate and asked him to go inside the school alone.
Based on the brother's statement, police now feel that the girl was not taken away forcefully, Kumar said.
