Minor girl molested by man

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a 25-year-old man at the residence of her relatives in suburban Ghatkopar recently, a senior police official said today.
The girl was alone at the house in Pant Nagar area when the accused, identified as Gangaram Akhade, forced his way in and touched her inappropriately, the official said, adding that Akhade threatened her of dire consequence if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
The incident came to light today after the girl confided in her family members who went to Akhade's work place in Tilak Nagar area and thrashed him, following which he was hospitalised, police said.

The girl's parents subsequently lodged a complaint with Pant Nagar police station, following which Akhade was booked under sections 354 a (punishment for sexual harassment), 452 (trespass after preparation for hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and under the relevant sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, the official said.
The accused is currently undergoing treatment at hospital and will be arrested once he is discharged, he added.
