The alleged incident occurred last evening in Wadi village of Vannazipet hamlet of the district when the girl was playing near the house of the accused identified as Gangadhar (24), a coolie, Sirikonda Police Station Sub-Inspector B Shanker said.
"The accused called the girl in his house on the pretext of playing with her and allegedly violated her," the sub- inspector said.
Following a complaint by the girl's parents, a case was registered under relevant sections of Nirbhaya Act and a hunt has been launched to nab the accused who is at large, the SI added.
