Acting on a tip-off, police raided a hideout and nabbed the miscreant identified as Raju Mandal and seized a pistol and some ammunition from his possession, the Qasim Bazar police station Officer In-Charge Deepak Kumar said.
Mandal was wanted in over a dozen cases of murder, extortion and illegal posession of arms, he said.
The miscreant made an abortive bid to escape by firing from a pistol on Kumar who miraculously survived. And was overpowered bythe former.
