The local Cantonment Police said the girl in her late 20s was a native of nearby Tulasipur Bandha Sahi, who went missing from her house late on Sunday night.
"Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of her death is drowning," said Cantonment police inspector Biswajit Mohanty adding, there was no visible injury mark on her body.
Quoting the girl's father, the police said she was very disturbed for the past several months after her marriage negotiations with a local boy got stalled. The girl had earlier made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide, the police said.
