This will be Mistry's first visit to the city after being fielded against the BJP stalwart.
The AICC General Secretary will interact with workers as part of his preparations for the high-profile poll battle, Congress sources said here.
Mistry, a close aide of Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, had expressed confidence about emerging victorious soon after his candidature was announced early this week.
"This was the moment I was waiting for years. Let Modi fight from Vadodara. I am very confident about defeating him," he had told PTI.
He is likely to visit Vadodara on April 9 to file his nomination papers, according to BJP sources here.
Gujarat, which has 26 Lok Sabha seats, will vote on April 30.
