Air India had earlier announced its decision to discontinue flights between Lengpui and Imphal from October.
Lal Thanhawla, in his letter to Raju yesterday, termed the decision of Air India as unfortunate while the centre has been making arrangements to connect even smaller towns.
He said that air link was extremely important for states like Mizoram, which has difficult terrain, denying it with good connectivity with its neighbouring states.
"The people of Mizoram and Manipur have close affinity with relatives on both the sides, making it necessary to have good connectivity," he said.
