Mizuho Bank's India Chief Executive Officer Shinichiro Kashiwagi paid a courtesy visit today to Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel at Gandhinagar and announced that the bank would commence operations in Ahmedabad.
Kashiwagi informed Patel that Mizuho Bank has already acquired a licence from Reserve Bank of India and would set up its branch at Ahmedabad from June 2015, according to an official press release issued here today.
Kashiwagi told the Gujarat CM that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged them to start a branch in Gujarat when he toured Japan. As an acceptance of the proposal made by Modi, the bank has decided to open its branch here to widen its platform, the release said.
