Mob ransacks house after woman's death

A mob today ransacked the house of a man at Haridev in Southern part of the city alleging that he was responsible for the death of his wife, police said.
Puja Das, a housewife as found hanging inside a locked room of the house. She was rushed to M R Bangur Hospital where she was declared dead, the police said.
After the news of Puja's death spread in the area, a mob ransacked the house of Swapan Das alleging that he was responsible for her death.
Swapan Das was arrested following complaints lodged by the parents of Puja, the police said.

Swapan was arrested on charge of subjecting Puja to mental torture ever since their marriage for not meeting dowry demands, the police added.
