According to MeT department here, heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers occurred at isolated places in eastern UP.
Chief amount of rainfall recorded in cm are Nighasan 14, Bareilly 12, Shardanagar 10, Lakhimpur Kheri, Malihabad and Chanderdeepghat 8 each, Balrampur 7, Basti, Lucknow (o) and Bansi 6 each.
The department forecast that heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over eastern parts of the state.
Meanwhile, a report from Barabanki said Ghaghra river was rising menacingly at Elgin bridge. Round the clock monitoring of the river was on.
