Hitting out at BJP-led Central government, senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury today said the Narendra Modi government is enjoying the "honeymoon phase", and people will soon start reacting to its "failures".

"The Modi-led government is currently in honeymoon period. The people will soon start reacting to the failures of this government," Yechury told reporters here.

The Central government has failed to deliver the promises made during the Lok Sabha elections, he said.

The present government is no different from the former UPA-led formation, he said.

"Modi used to call former Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) as 'maun' Mohan, but you see the current PM, most of the time when he speaks he is outside the country," Yechurysaid.

He alleged that the BJP's slogan of "acche din" was just an election gimmick.

"International oil prices are being slashed by 50 per cent, but the actual benefit that percolates down to the people is just to the tune of 10-20 per cent," he said, adding that the Union government is busy helping the capitalists.

Yechuryalso alleged that the government is busy helping corporate media, which is a pay back for them for helping the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
