AICC general secretary and Chhattisgarh in charge P L Punia today hit out at the BJP-led NDA government claiming that it had failed on every front and had "betrayed" the trust of the public.
"The Modi government has betrayed the people of the country. It had made several promises including high minimum support price to farmers, employment to two crore youths, bringing back black money stashed abroad but none of these has been fulfilled," he said at a press conference on the occasion of the Modi government completing four years in office.
Punia said that the NDA government had cheated farmers by not implementing a minimum support price that was 50 per cent more than the cost of production despite Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley promising to do so.
He said that the Union government had failed on all fronts including national security, foreign policy and managing the economy.
He alleged that corruption and scams were rampant in the Union government as well as states ruled by the BJP, adding that only big industrialists were benefiting.
Punia claimed that the Modi government had no answers on the alleged corruption in the Rafale aircraft deal, as well as allegations against firms connected to BJP chief Amit Shahs son Jay Shah and Union minister Piyush Goyal.
He also accused the state government, under Raman Singh, of corruption.
He said that the Modi government was "capturing and weakening" democratic institutions in the country.
Punia also said that the Congress would fight all 90 seats in the state Assembly polls, slated for later this year, and exuded confidence that the party would win the polls.
