Bansal slams Modi as an arrogant leader

What he speaks do not behove of a politician who is a prime ministerial candidate, says Modi

Former Railway Minister and Congress candidate from Chandigarh Pawan Kumar Bansal today said Narendra Modi was an "arrogant" and "shameless" leader who was "not good" to become the Prime Minister.

"Modi is an arrogant leader. What he speaks do not behove of a politician who is a prime ministerial candidate," Bansal said, referring to Modi's speeches against his opponents.

"At all his election rallies, Modi is making hollow claims," Bansal said and added that "Modi's foundation is laid on false claims."

"Modi trumpets at rallies that he will do this or that, but his tall claims are false promises," he said.

"Modi is an arrogant and shameless leader who is not good to become a PM," he added.

The sitting MP, Bansal is pitted against Aam Aadmi Party's Gul Panag and BJP's Kirron Kher, both actors.

On being asked who he considers as his closest rival, Bansal said, "On a track, a player is only focused on the finishing line. I am not aware who will finish second or third."

He however, claimed that by fielding political "greenhorns" against him, BJP and AAP had made his task easy.

When asked how many seats Congress could bag at the hustings, the four-time MP said, "This is sure if Congress will not be able to form the next government then neither BJP can do it."

On corruption, he said there should not be "hypocrisy" like the "double speak" of BJP.

Listing Congress' achievements, he said the Lokpal was introduced by the party. "Congress brought judicial accountability and laws related to corruption," he said.

When asked about inflation, he said, "The country is importing oil, pulses and edible oil for which the government had to give money as per the international market price."

Over the issue of railgate after which he had to step down as minster, Bansal said, "CBI did not find an iota of evidence against me. If proved guilty by any court I am prepared to be stoned to death in the market of the city by its people."

On BJP's election manifesto, he said its a "confused document."

"There is utter confusion in BJP over the election manifesto as Kirron Kher had released a separate manifesto here a few days back," he said.

When asked about local BJP leader and former MP Satya Pal Jain filing a complaint with the EC over Sonia Gandhi's meeting with Shahi Imam of Delhi, Bansal said, "Jain had destroyed his entire life in making baseless complaints.
