Modi playing divisive politics over Bangladeshi immigrants: LF

The Left Front today joined its arch-rival Trinamool Congress in castigating Narendra Modi for his alleged divisive politics over Bangladeshi immigrants in West Bengal and demanded that the Election Commission take notice of his comments.
"Modi is making reckless comments and trying to create a division in Bengal," Left Front chairman Biman Bose said at a press conference at the CPI(M) headquarters here.
"Like a parrot, he is reading out whatever is provided to him without knowing facts. Such a person is being propped up to be the country's Prime Minister," Bose said.
"Is he trying to create riots in Bengal by his comments?" Bose asked, referring to Modi's statement that Bangladeshi nationals other than religious refugees who have crossed over to India would be sent back.

"The Election Commission should take notice of his comments," the CPI(M) politburo member said.
He alleged that the BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee were attacking each other publicly in a tacit understanding.

"Modi has already softened his stance. Earlier he had talked about 'laddoos' in both hands of the Bengal electorate if there was Modi as Prime Minister in Delhi and Banerjee as Chief Minister in Bengal.
"Today he talked of rasgullas in both hands for the Bengal people. Laddoo is a hard sweet while rasgulla is a soft one," Bose said.
"(BJP president) Rajnath Singh always refers to Mamata Banerjee as 'Didi' (elder sister), today Modi also called her 'Didi'," he said referring to Modi's speech in Bankura and Asansol.

"Let him declare that they will have a pact after the election results," Bose said.
"He is dropping hints about this. Why doesn't he declare this openly?" he questioned.
"Modi and Mamata are attacking each other in an understanding... They have an understanding with each other," Bose alleged, adding that "white and green of Trinamool Congress will come together with saffron."
Taking on the Election Commission and its special observer for West Bengal Sudhir Kumar Rakesh, Bose said that those who were in charge of elections said polling was peaceful and free and fair much before it actually ended.
Of the five phases of Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, three have been completed and the next two are due on May 7 and May 12.

"The special observer said that there has been no death in poll-related violence. Does he want a march of the dead?" he wondered.
He alleged there had been a series of irregularities and rigging committed by the ruling party in the state.
