The Samajwadi Party today said by anointing Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate, the BJP was trying to spread "poison of communalism" in the country.
"The move aims at creating division in society and will prove self-destructive for the saffron outfit," SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said in a statement here.
"Modi is misleading the people by presenting false facts and he will not be able to make any impact in UP," he said.
In the present scenario, the responsibility of SP workers had increased manifold as the party had always fought against communalism, the statement said.
