Before launching his "Bharat Vijay Rally", Narendra Modi today offered prayers at the Vaishno Devi cave shrine and said he was fortunate that his campaign began from Jammu and Kashmir.
"Fortunate my campaign has begun from Jammu and Kashmi... this morning I bowed to Mata Vaishno Devi, now I bow to the people," the BJP prime ministerial candidate said at the first 'Bharat Vijay Rally' at Hiranagar in Jammu district.
The rally is the first of the 185 such rallies that Modi will address across the country.
"I am moved with love given by you (people of Jammu and Kahsmir. I bow before you. I thank you for love given by you. I promise you that I will repay with interests the love you have ushered on me by ensuring development of the state," he said.
"The name of this rally is 'Bharat Vijay Rally'. When we say Bharat Vijay Rally, we mean victory on price rise. We want victory on this front, victory of the country on corruption, victory of the country on misgovernance and unemployment," he said.
Modi, without naming any party, said the country should be made free of personality and dynastic rule.
"We should make the country suicide free in terms of farmers, who have committed suicide in the country. We have to free the country for personality and dynastic rule," the Gujarat Chief Minister said.
BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on March 24 had announced that Modi will address 185 Bharat Vijay rallies in 295 constituencies.
"Bharat Vijay rallies will be characterised by a unique mix of a standardised format adapted to suit localised requirements, including charge sheets on each state ruled by the Opposition parties," Naqvi had said.
