Mohsin peeved with PCB's decision to appoint Waqar as coach

Former Pakistan opener Mohsin Khan, who had also applied for chief coach's post has accused the PCB today of promoting "tainted" and "dubious" former players in key positions in the national team without taking names of Moin Khan and Waqar Younis.
"The board is promoting such players (reference to Waqar and Moin) giving them important positions who are tainted and don't have a clean past," Mohsin, who has also been a chief selector and head coach told a news conference in Karachi.
"One had a great deal of expectations when Najam Sethi took over from Zaka Ashraf but the board is now being run like a personal family affair and not a institution. If need be, I will consult my lawyers and move court," he said.

The PCB this week appointed Waqar as head coach for a second stint one day after the deadline expired for interested candidates to apply for positions of head coach, fielding coach, batting coach and spin consultant.
Mohsin was among those who applied for the head coach job a position he held on interim basis in 2011 and 2012 after Waqar had resigned on personal and health grounds.
Mohsin guided Pakistan to Test series victories over Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and England before the board headed by Zaka Ashraf unceremoniously dumped him and brought in Australian, Dav Whatmore.

Mohsin said he was appalled that the board had not learnt anything from the past and was still promoting players without dubious past.

"In 2010, when our three players were caught in spot fixing, who was the coach,? he questioned with a clear reference to Waqar.
"Obviously, even the players had the gall to do spot fixing because they knew who was their coach. Today this board is also setting wrong examples by trying to get the ban on Muhammad Aamir reduced."
"In my opinion, he (Aamir) deserves to be banned for life because players, who at whatever scale had been dishonest must not be spared and be made examples. But where this board is concerned it is working other way round which is sad."

Mohsin said the PCB has make a mockery of the process to select the coaches and also joked with the nation.
"I applied two days before the deadline when I realized the people they wanted to appoint on important positions. I have no hunger to become coach but I applied because I wanted to expose the intentions of this board and try to prevent such tainted people from entering Pakistan cricket."
"No interviews were held no candidate was called for discussions and the board directly appointed Moin and Waqar this is a joke with Pakistan cricket," Mohsin who played 48 Tests and 70 ODIs said.

"I just hope the Prime Minister takes notice of what I have said today or else moving court is the other option available for people like me," fumed Mohsin.
