Sharda and Ghaghra rivers in UP were flowing above the danger mark at few places while Ramganga was flowing near the red mark at Moradabad and Dabri in Shahjahanpur and Ganga at Fatehgarh, Central Water Commission officials said.
In Delhi, mercury registered a significant dip as the sky remained cloudy during most of the day.
According to the MeT department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.1 degree Celsius and the minimum at 28.2 degrees Celsius.
The city received 3.4 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours, the Met department said.
Scattered rainfall occurred in parts of Punjab and Haryana bringing down temperatures in several places across the region.
Union territory of Chandigarh was drenched by 30 mm of rainfall, and recorded a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius, the Met office said.
Ambala in Haryana received the most rainfall at 51 mm, while in Punjab, Amritsar received 23 mm and Patiala 0.3 mm showers.
