In view of the ongoing wedding season, when the capital roads face under massive jams, Delhi Traffic Police will deploy extra force on roads to regulate the heavy vehicular movement.
Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Kashyap held a meeting with DCPs of different traffic ranges to discuss the situation and methods to cope with it.
"More personnel will be deployed in key areas like Samalkha, Pushpanjali Enclave, Mehrauli, Badarpur, Mukarba Chowk that house banquet halls and farmhouses. Apart from traffic personnel, there will be extra force on the roads. The PCR unit of Delhi Police has been requested to provide extra force," said a source in the department.
On November 30, Delhi is going to witness close to 22,000 weddings and today's meeting discussed the arrangements that should be made to tackle heavy traffic.
"These arrangements will be in place till mid-December when the wedding season will be at peak," the source said.
Meanwhile, congestion was observed in central Delhi today owing to a protest march and the ongoing India International Trade Fair.
