Micheal Rooker, Pom Klementieff and comedian Bobcat Goldthwait are the latest Hollywood stars to come forward in defence of James Gunn, who was fired from directing third "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie.
The 51-year-old filmmaker was sacked from the third film in the Marvel franchise after a series of old offensive tweets made by him were shared by a right wing website over the weekend.
Rooker, who played Yondu in Gunn's film, said he was quitting Twitter over the brouhaha.
"This account will be inactive after today. We're very tired and upset over the ongoing BULLS**T neither I nor my rep will use Twitter again. Twitter sucks and I want nothing to do with it. Thank you to all who gave kind words and support. See you on Instagram," he wrote.
Klementieff, who plays Mantis in the film, shared a video of a note penned by her, which reads, "We are Groot. We are a family. We stand together."
"... I'd hate to make you guys look bad seeing that I'm openly critical of the president and his administration, and you seem to be taking your lead from some of his radical fringe supporters. I think James Woods may have recorded a voice for this new attraction, too. Why not check out some of his whacky past tweets?! They're a hoot!
