More than 40 Lord Ganesha idols immersed in Cauvery

:More than 40 idols of Lord Ganesha were taken out in a procession through the main streets of the city and immersed in the cauvery river at nearby Valayapettai village on the occasion of Vinayaka Chathurthi.
Police said poojas were performed and the idols were later taken to the Mahamaham tank bank here, from where they were taken in a procession to the Cauvery river bank here and then to Valayapettai, where they were immersed.
More than 300 police were pressed into service, they said.
