About 700 Anganawadi and Mid day meal workers were arrested today for attempting to stage picketing in front of the district collectorate, pressing for the implementation of their 10-point charter of demands.
About 1,000 workers came in procession from the City Railway Station to the collectorate, covering some 300 metres, which paralysed the entire traffic for nearly one hour, police said.
The demands included filling up of 40,000 vacancies, regular salary to cooks and assistants and family pension of Rs 3,500.
