More than common man, politicians will be hard-hit: Raja
Press Trust of India Coimbatore More than the common man, politicians will be hard-hit by the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, BJP national secretary H Raja said here today.
Without elaborating, he told reporters that it will have a "limited effect" on the poor and common man due to the sudden announcement, but it will have a "larger impact" on politicians.
Stating that the decision was announced to "improve and stabilise the country's economy", Raja said there was no point in approaching the court against such a drive, particularly for "some politicians".
The BJP leader alleged that those who had filed PILs against the initiative were "against the nation's interest" and were looking for "cheap publicity".
To a question on the ban on 'Jallikattu' (a bull-taming sport), Raja said a bill would be introduced in the next Parliament session and the coming Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu, next year, will "definitely" celebrate it.
