Singer-actress Sophie Choudry says while most Bollywood celebrities are aware of fashion trends, there are very few who actually have a personal style.
Sophie, however, feels that thanks to the various fashion portals and strict vigilante at airports by shutterbugs, actors are now making an extra effort to look good and have even hired stylists to design their travel attires.
"Bollywood has absolutely become fashion conscious. When I moved here from London 10 years ago, people weren't so aware of fashion and more importantly style. Today it's gone to the other extreme. Why would you need a stylist to dress you for a plane journey? Surely you can figure that out on your own," Sophie told PTI.
"But that's the problem, most people may be aware of fashion trends but they don't have personal style. I'm glad, however, that thanks to various fashion blogs, people are making the effort to dress better! I will never be able to get on board with Mumbai's Jhallla style."
Sophies choice of outfits for appearances and red carpet events lands her in best dressed lists and the 34-year-old says it is because she chooses outfits which are an extension of her personality.
"Fashion is all about trends, what one wears in terms of clothing, accessories and more. But for me it's also a form of expression. What I wear reflects my mood, my feelings. In that way fashion is an extension of your personality."
Talking about her favourite fashion items, the singer says she can't live without denims and white T-shirts. Also, instead of a little black dress, she prefers a red dress.
"I'm a complete denim girl. My cupboard is full of all the styles and colours. White shirts and T-shirts that fit perfectly. Nude stilettos because the legs look so much longer and slimmer. An LBD is essential but I would prefer a Little Red Dress instead. It's more glam and more memorable. And last but not least a gorgeous black handbag. It elevates any look."
The singer will be walking the ramp for debut designer Abha Choudhary at the Lakme Fashion Week on day five of the event, which begins here today.
