Mother Teresa's sculpture unveiled at Asia's oldest varsity

Mother Teresa will now inspire students of Asia's oldest university here in the Philippines capital, as a bust sculpture of the 'the Living Saint' was unveiled on the campus.
The bust carved by Indian sculptor Gautam Pal is a gift from the Indian Government and the people to the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
The plaque quotes Mother Teresa "Your strength lies in small things" encapsulating her life-long mission to bring solace to the sick and the un-loved.
Unveiling the bust sculpture yesterday, Indian ambassador Amit Dasgupta exhorted the youth to "learn to think with your heart- to have compassionate hearts."

The bust now housed at the Santissimo Rosario Parish Garden, besides the Chapel in the UST will strengthen people to people relations between our two countries. It best denotes extreme and acute secularism, Dasgupta added.
The rector of the UST Herminio Dagohoy urged all to follow mother Teresa's "incredible inspiration" and her work.

Extolling the youth to imbibe the spirit of beginning with small things, Dagohoy said the plaque quote "challenges the common belief that big is always better."
Students, faculty, business leaders and diplomatic community in Manila were present on the occasion. Children and nuns from the Missionaries of Charity at Manila, that runs an orphanage and home for the aged, offered flowers.

Mother Teresa visited the UST twice in 1977 and 1984.
