As per a notification by the AAP government, Assistant Sub-Inspector and above rank officers of Delhi Police and Head Constables of Transport Department will have the power to penalise motorists causing obstruction in NMV lanes.
A senior government official said parking and other types of obstructions like encroachment on NMV lanes will now come under violation of rules.
"There will now be a fine of Rs 2,000 on those obstructing movement of e-rickshaws and other non-motorised vehicles in the form of parking or encroachment in NMV lanes," he said.
"NMV lanes will be marked on roads so that motorists do not obstruct plying of cycles and e-rickshaws in such lanes," the official added.
