The Chief Minister, accompanied by his wife, arrived in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Sanjay Pandey here at around 11.30 AM amid tight security for recording their statements.
The plaint-petition was filed in the court of CJM Pandey on July 12. It demanded damages to the tune of Rs one crore from the Leader of the Opposition. The amount would be used to rehabilitate the families affected by recent tragedy in Uttarakhand, the petition added.
The baseless allegations were damaging as they were published in widely circulated dailies in the state, Chouhan said.
Chouhan and his wife recorded their statements before the CJM and said that these charges have damaged their and their family's reputation.
The court proceedings lasted for nearly an hour after which it fixed August 16 as the date for recording the statement of the respondents in the case.
