MP govt to purchase new aircraft worth Rs 80 cr

Madhya Pradesh Government will purchase a new aeroplane with an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore while it is planning to sell its existing aircraft which is over ten-years-old.
"We are planning to sell our old plane and the state cabinet has given its approval to purchase new aircraft with an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore," cabinet spokesman and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra said after emerging from the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
When asked about the issue of transfer of Vyapam scam whistleblower and RTI activist Anand Rai and his wife Gauri Rai, the minister said the High Court has asked the government to file a reply on the issue.

"Media will be informed when it (reply) is filed," Mishra said.
On the issue of a trainee IAS officer in Seoni district who has filed a complaint of sexual harassment against an official of Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission, Mishra said the government was gathering information on the incident and is serious about the matter.
On the other decisions taken by the cabinet, Mishra said the government has decided to earmark Rs 10 crore for resolving problems and providing assistance to drivers and co-drivers of commercial vehicles.
The move will help in providing financial assistance to drivers and co-drivers, conductors and other persons associated with commercial vehicles. The aid would be in the range of Rs 25,000-75,000, he added.

Referring to roads in the state, Mishra said the government has granted administrative sanction to eight main roads with an investment of Rs 400 crore.
