Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that the state has created a history of sorts by enhancing the power generation to 15,500 Mega Watt (mw) from 4,000 mw after Chhattisgarh was carved out of it.
"MP has made historical progress in power generation. When Chhattisgarh was carved out of MP, the state was left with just 4,000 mw power. Now the state power generation capacity is 15,500 mw," Chouhan said, while addressing the Independence Day function at Motilal Nehru Stadium here after unfurling the tricolour.
Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh on November 1,2000.
Chouhan said that Asia's largest solar power project of 135 mw has been commissioned in Neemuch district.
"Now the world's largest green project of 750 mw was coming up in MP's Rewa district. The work of commissioning this project will commence shortly.
"I feel proud of stating that with the efforts and labour of all, the state has come out of the BIMARU (laggard -a term used for states Bihar, MP, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh) tag," Chouhan said.
He said that efforts were on to bring prosperity in the lives of the people since last 10 years.
The Chief Minister said that MP's economic growth was constant at two digits and it was just double the country's economic growth last year.
