Justice PK Jaiswal and Alok Verma of the Indore bench of the high court granted the interim stay on the decision of the district collector on a PIL, said petitioner Saurabh Mishra.
The District Collector of Indore had ordered that only those drivers wearing helmets will get fuel for their vehicles at petrol pumps. The order came into effect from April 1.
"There is no provision in the Motor Vehicles Act that drivers (of two wheelers) must wear helmets while refuelling at petrol pumps. Making wearing of helmets compulsory shows arrogance of the district administration," Mishra said.
