A mob thrashed a man in Chhattarpur in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday after suspecting him to be a child lifter, police said.
This is the third such mob attack in the district in the past three days, an official said.
"Rakesh Khatik (37) was going to Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh from Bandha. He alighted from the train for a break but got assaulted by people who thought he was a child lifter," Harpalpur police station official B Sharma said.
Sharma said Khatik suffered minor injuries, adding that a case was registered and efforts were on to nab those who attacked the man.
On Friday a mob beat up a hearing and speech-impaired person in Garroli area of Naugaon on suspicion of being a child lifter, Inspector Rakesh Sahu said.
On Thursday, a mentally-unwell woman was assaulted in Naugaon area over the same suspicion, he said. Both are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals, Sahu added.
