An employee of the District Commerce and Industries Centre was arrested by Lokayukta Police today for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in lieu of sanctioning a loan proposal under a Madhya Pradesh government scheme, police said.
Manish Patki, working as an office assistant, had demanded Rs 10,000 from the complainant who sought a loan of Rs 10 lakh in the name of his wife under 'Rani Durgavati Scheme' for setting up a dairy farm in Pithampur industrial town, they said.
Later, on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim, a trap was laid and Patki was caught red-handed while accepting the first instalment of Rs 5,000, they said
A case has been registered against Patki under the Prevention of Corruption Act, police added.
