Private investors could invest in the 16 special tourism zones which were identified by the state tourism department. These zones would provide additional subsidies and incentives for the investors apart from tax exemptions, O V Chowdhury, Chief General manager of MPSTDC told a press conference here.
He said that big players like the Taj and Oberoi group besides Essel World have shown interest and that private investors could purchase land or take land on lease for a period of 90 years.
He said that the tourism policy of the state provided ample scope for the development of tourism infrastructure through private participation.
Chowdhury said that the corporation was introducing different new tourism circuits to facilitate tourists as it was not possible to cover the state at one go.
To help tourists visiting different destinations in MP as well as corporate travelers, an intra-state air service has been introduced by M P tourism and Ventura Air connect pvt ltd, he said.
The services were available from Bhopal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Khajuraho, Indore and Gwalior, he said.
Asked if tourist inflow in the state was taken a hit following restrictions imposed by the Supreme court regarding tourism in National parks, he said that MP has implemented the apex court directives.
"Since only 25 per cent area in National parks in the state was open to tourists, we are developing new roads in those areas and by that calculation the number of vehicles would be increased," he said.
